Is the hardest to uphold
The well worn paths outside of me
Tend to present only the extreme

When the messengers shrink
For long enough to breathe

To choose a path rather than
Be towed, a load behind
their “guiding” light

Too often the pull is strong
And we go along, let others
Stake the course of history

Another option? What kind of potion

Sees the whole of its surroundings
